OnePassingNight AU Import History

One Passing Night is a peculiarly crafted game in which the community entries take place during a character's dreams. These dreams may also affect a character's waking life, and as such, the important pieces of Roxas' import history are integrated into the AU as a whole. The outlined plot of this AU was created prior to the release of KH3D, even as far as before the game was even announced, and as such the end of this AU veers greatly in contrast to current KH canon history.

Roxas' story remains the same throughout the entirety of 358/2 Days and the majority of his time in the digital Twilight Town. What occurs differently from canon begins at the end of Day 6, when Sora and Roxas cannot merge fully. This is due to the seed of darkness planted within Sora by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness; during the final fights when Sora was "possessed" by the Guardian multiple times. Their merge is only partially successful, and so when Sora opens his eyes for the first time, Roxas stares right back.
the immediate suspicions of Donald against the 'stranger' are mollified when Sora and Jiminy rationalise that Roxas was the one to wake them up. Unsure of what to say or even what to think at this point, Roxas lets them make their own assumptions and leads the group to Twilight Town when asked. He continues to stick by them until Sora attempts to enter the Usual Spot, refusing to follow and finding himself drawn towards the Sandlot, instead. Seifer confirms his fears of not being recognised, before Sora, Donald and Goofy (well, mostly Sora) drag him away to meet someone very important at the station.
when attacked by the Nobodies, Roxas fights alongside Sora, revealing his status as a Keybearer. The group still winds up in need of rescuing by Mickey who's just as quick about rushing off as his canon counterpart. The only particular difference is a comment directed only at Roxas; "you shouldn't still be here." Its taken different ways by the group; to Roxas, its a chilling confirmation that someone knows exactly what he is with the and what was due to transpire; especially with the addition of Olette's stolen wallet and the blue orb he'd lost after falling from the clock tower. Sora, Donald and Goofy interpret the given facts with a more face value approach; since Roxas is a Wielder, and seemingly knows the king, he must have been purposefully sent to wake them. Confused and overwhelmed, Roxas puts up little fight to their insistence that he join them on the train.
Goodbyes with Hayner, Pence and Olette happen; there's lots of sad and no one notices when Sora and Roxas cry at the same time because this is a cliche AU and we do what we want. Bitches board the train and Sora laments over feeling sad whilst Roxas wonders about his life choices.

At Yen Sid's tower, the group are instructed in regards to their mission- and, their enemies. Compounding with the harsh mindset of DiZ, Roxas is further pushed to believe that as a Nobody, he will never be accepted by Sora or his friends... If he tells them what he is. Whilst Sora goes to get changed, Roxas is left alone with Yen Sid, and the two discuss Roxas' current state, and how he has come to be. In his worry, Roxas does not see the acceptance in Yen Sid's words; "there is a reason for which we exist; all have a purpose."
After Sora has been kitted up, Yen Sid suggests that with a new ally to help them, it could be pertinent for Donald and Goofy to return to their own world for a time. The group separate as a result, with promises to meet at Disney Castle within the month.
Of course, things usually take longer than one expects.
Sora and Roxas essentially take a period of around five weeks to cover the next four canon worlds. It's the beginning of a large arc of character development for Roxas; when faced with the Organisation, the blonde barely holds his ground, the urge to fight his old cohorts rather strong. Eerily, they continue to address Sora and only Sora, leaving Roxas shaken and Sora's distrust of Nobodies very clear. Throughout the following worlds (Land of Dragons, Beast's Castle and the Coliseum respectively) Roxas and Sora learn to form a sense of trust, respect and comradeship for each other; they work well as a whole and become more responsive to each other emotionally. Contrary to DiZ's former sentiment, Roxas is aware of budding emotions. Rage, confusion and fear develop into varying pitches and types, from positive to negative, and the information he has about himself hangs over Roxas like a cloud.
The dreams in OnePassingNight become effective from here. Both he and Sora face dreams of their own, and are involved in each others as well as various people's, including an alternate Sora who Roxas is exposed to many times. Roxas associates and develops relationships with many of these people, and in turn, these relationships and dreams expose his feelings and fears over revealing too much about himself, and encourage him to overcome them.
He suggests to Sora that they take a break before rejoining Donald and Goofy, and with relaxation in mind, they head towards Twilight Town. Three major steps are undertaken during the course of their stay; Roxas visits the Usual Spot with Sora. The two then visit the location of what had been his apartment in digital Twilight Town; a debilitated building that hasn't seen any real use in years. And thirdly, Roxas tells Sora about what he is.

The reaction itself is not positive. Confused and caught in the stereotypes he's been spoken about and exposed to, Sora accuses Roxas of spying. Expecting plenty of harsh words, the accusation catches Roxas off guard; in the ensuing fight he then attempts to leave, Sora chasing him down and forcing the two to work through the issue of their connection slowly. They both come to an understanding as best they can at that time; neither wishes to leave, however, their trust in each other is severely shaken.
The solution comes within their dreams. Roxas exposes Sora to the memories of his past, and what confusion remains between them falls away. They continue their journey to Disney Castle with a steady awareness of their bond, both tentative, but viewing each other by that point as close and valuable friends. They're reunited with Donald and Goofy, and the tentative peace lasts all of 2.5 seconds before shit goes down with the Cornerstone. The two are then split up for e first time since meeting, Roxas swallowing back his own uncertainty to remain back and protect the castle's occupants as the trio rush to find Merlin. During this time, he becomes closer friends with Minnie, her majesty showing an indication that she knows what he is, but providing him with acceptance from an outsider that he so desperately needs.
From here, they venture the world in the placement provided within the game itself. Think Didney with a bit more blonde added and that's essentially it; from arguing over whether you'd want to be a pirate or not, to having finny fun, to yelling at Santa when Roxas doesn't appear on his lists. The most important aspect during this time is Sora and. Roxas' developing control over their dreams within OnePassingNight. They create a base dream, one closely connected to their hearts, which becomes a place of solace for both boys.
Upon their third return to Twilight Town, things take a turn for the worst. Kairi is kidnapped, and Saix addresses Roxas for the first time since leaving the organisation; "your usefulness has expired." Both shaken, they continue their journey, aware and concerned that the Organisation may plan to target Roxas next, and worried about Kairi's whereabouts. Everything goes to shit again in a way the two don't expect.
Axel has been a thought on the back of Roxas' mind up to this stage, and the redhead appears at OnePassingNight with seemingly not recollection of Roxas leaving the Organisation. Sure that the other is fooling himself, Roxas pushes the situation, only to find that in their future, Axel has died. This greatly affects both Roxas and Sora, the blonde breaking his dreams and refusing to sleep for some while.
After the two are exposed to Xaldin's death in Beast's Castle, Roxas finally faces Axel once more and the two come to a tentative resolution. Both Sora and Roxas face the future with a far more grim outlook; it's impossible for either of them to look at the Organisation as just Nobodies, and without knowledge of how and when Axel dies, the urgency of their adventure grows.
And that's where I'm taking this little fucker from BUT IF YOU REALLY WANT MORE TL;DR.
After the events of Kh2, Roxas and Sora take little time in relaxing on the islands. Despite being accepted into Sora's family, Roxas himself finds himself too restless to really relax, and so the two begin to use Radiant Garden as a base of operations whilst exploring and providing help for both new worlds and old.
Trouble arises when Sora comes across a world that shouldn't exist; The W End of the Worlds. There, he's attacked by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who has been building the seed of darkness in Sora's heart for the previous year. With little time left before his body is completely taken over control, he returns to Radiant Garden, telling Roxas of the coming danger and asking him to stop Ansem.
Roxas replies by stabbing Sora in the chest with his keyblade. No, really. Sora's heart is released and seemingly lost, and facing down Ansem in his rage, Roxas is unsure as to whether he will make it through alive. Of course he does, because this is a cliche AU, and bitch, the hero always wins. He goes to find Sora in the Chamber of Waking with Ventus and then destati plays and this history is over wow.
